Is Clinton Portis The Most Disrespected RB In The League?

Numbers are usually among the league's best at his position despite the fact that teams were/would usually stack the box against him but yet somehow he gets overlooked by guys who have only had one, maybe two good years in the league. Why is that?

he's not flashy, nor does he have one truly gamebreaking, highlight reel quality. he's not a big bruiser like brandon jacobs, he doesn't have the otherwordly athleticism of adrian peterson or reggie bush, he's not a touchdown machine like tomlinson, he's just a running back who's very good at everything.

No he isn't. Just about every defensive coordinator knows about CP26, and how he can controll a game 4 yards at a time. You must be talking about people on the OS board, because he doesn't gash teams 50 yards at a time.

I don't think thats he disrespected, maybe overlooked. I think he's pound for pound one of the toughest players in the league. The guy constantly takes a pounding. May miss a couple of plays then he's right back in the game.

Usually when I make threads on here, the LAST reason why I would make them is because one or two people on OS say the opposite.

This sounds about right to me.

Ever since his move to Washington, he's become just an extremely solid running back. It seems he left those flashes of incredible brilliance behind in Denver, but in turn transformed into more of a workhorse back (which is what Gibbs traded for him to be) who is very good at all things a running back must do. Probably the most complete back in the NFL. Because he isn't the very best at any of what he does, he gets overlooked by fans.

Gotta love his multiple personas, though! Love how he doesn't take himself too seriously.

Clinton is definitely the best blocking RB in the league. The guy has an uncanny ability to know where and when to pick-up the blitzer. And, since joining the 'Skins in '03-'04, Clinton has been the heart and soul of the franchise IMO. Oh, he's also probably the greatest back to ever put on a 'Skins jersey, too.

Disrespected is the wrong word. I'd say that Portis is often overlooked because he's not very flashy nor does he have all those highlight reel type plays in his repetoire.

Honestly, he's like another John Riggins, very solid, can block and can get the tough yards when you really need them but often overlooked because he's just "solid" and not flashy at all.
