Ahh, only on OS where a guy can admit he made a mistake based on one impression to people arguing over a word that has no true definition whatsoever.

It's interesting that this topic was sparked by a positive story from a former Miami player and has degenerated to this.

Is anyone ever really truly content with feel good stories no matter what the background?
I'm whiny because you, that Illustrator genius and many more people still think Miami is Thug U because of FORMER rep and how players look. Meanwhile, Penn State's clean-cut players are getting booked left and right.

Where is this talk with Florida Gators players? Dudes there are getting arrested every five minutes, shooting off Uzis and what not. AND alot of their players resemble Miami players with the dreads, grills and so on. Where is their rep?

Sorry about making this a big deal but it amazes me that rep from years ago is tattooed on peoples' brains to the point that no matter what...things are the way they want them to be. Feels like a social study.

Momma always said that I wuz smart. Am I a genius because I can actually read and comprehend? Go back and read my statement again. No one forced those guys to act all hard all of the time and parade around as if "The U" is some kind of gang or something. It's a freakin' college where you went to school at, you are a grown man mean muggin' the camera and saying "The U" like you are some kind of Crip or Blood, it's unintelligent and childish and not unlike most of the football players that come from there.

Furthermore, I never said ONE thing about stereyotyping the players based on how they look, but if you COMBINE that with their roughneck attitudes, actions and expressions, you can't reasonably defend how these guys are perceived by others. Think Kellen Winslow Jr. threatening to kill someone on national TV, those are the kind of aggressive, uncontrollable hot heads that Miami (I refuse to call them that ridiculous "The U") looks for.

Re: Edgerrin James has my respect

Just like any other major D-1 fball school there are good eggs and bad eggs. It was all an image that they portrayed back then to intimidate other teams and it worked VERY well. As much as I hate Miami they were trend setters and turned "The U" into a brand. It's a very good marketing strategy done by a group of players that are a pretty close knit family.

LOL, Kellen Winslow is no thug. Hell, I don't even think he was allowed to play fball until high school.

Not saying he IS a thug, but how can the general public not perceive him as one when he's throwing up "The U" and talking about killing someone over a football game, on national TV nonetheless?
