pro-football refrence "fwiw" ranked him 51st overall in terms of value since 1950. btw on that site it claims tackles are official stats since '01.

He was a tackle machine every game I saw him play.
Maybe I just don't know as much about football s you do, but what is the bolded part in reference to?

Re: Zach Thomas to retire...

Bolded part is talking about All Pro Football (the game that came after nfl2k5).

Thomas isn't retiring, he's rehabbing an injury. I think he said he'll be ready for the regular season (on the Chiefs now) but didn't look for a link.

So wait, the dude used a video game in order to strengthen an argument?

Then I'm sold. Just skip the 5 year waiting period and give him that one way ticket to Canton.

I also find it strange that profootballreference.com doesn't list tackles on it's stats page even though it's been an "official" stat since 2001.

Having said that, he was a very good, borderline great player for a long time but I don't know if I would vote him into the HoF. I wouldn't be upset if he got in, but I wouldn't be upset if he didn't either.

Re: Zach Thomas to retire...

He was underrated in the sense that, he was probably always considered behind Urlacher, Lewis, Donnie Edwards...

I'm pretty sure it was just fodder. Like he could've instead said something like "If he was the only guy on defense he still would've made every tackle." I doubt it was meant to be taken into any consideration in actually judging Thomas.
