Much of the Saints' success on defense against the Lions was the 3-4 alignment they unveiled, which was unexpected by the Lions since they haven't shown any of that this preseason or anytime last season. Meanwhile, the Vikings are a clear 4-3 team, so the Lions won't be caught off-guard nearly as bad this time around.

Much of the success on defense was from Stafford trying to force every pass to Calvin Johnson. If he does that again he'll keep getting picked off and the Lions will keep losing.

This will be another tight game with the Lions. Last year the Loins played Peterson tuff force some fumbles.. I expect the Vikings D to take Calvin Johnson out of the game and harrash Stafford.

Stafford threw 13 out of 37 pass attempts in Calvin Johnson's direction. And many of those throws to him was the correct read against the blitz that the Saints were running in a particular play. The third interception was an obvious forced throw to CJ but the other two picks were not. The first pick was an inaccurate throw that went into the hands of Darren Sharper, and the football slipped out of Stafford's hand on the throw and floated into the hands of a Saints defensive back for the second pick. Stafford wasn't forcing it to CJ as often as you think.

The main issues were that the Lions couldn't run the ball against the 3-4 alignment that the Saints unveiled since the Saints never showed that type of scheme at all, and that Stafford couldn't accurately deliver the ball to the hot receiver against the blitz despite making the right reads.

Nice week to have AP for OS fantasy football

Stafford might get roughed up this week.

Re: Week 2: Vikings @ Lions

I'm actually hoping the Motor City Kitties can live up to their name as Lions and beat up the Vikes.

That being said it'll be interesting to see how many carries AP gets. There's ALREADY talk that he's being overworked. I dunno where these people are getting this after one game but ok.
