So, the United Football League starts this Thursday with the California Redwoods at the Las Vegas Locomotives. I believe game time is 9 PM Eastern.

While it's just a short season, with four teams, more football is a good thing. The fact they are ready to play some games is great compared to how many new football leagues never even get that far.

Unless you have Versus or HDNet you'll have to catch the game online.

Seriously? They are selling their jerseys for $150???

Yes, the authentic jerseys are $150. I wouldn't pay that for an NFL jersey either, but hey, if you are a collector.

While some might yawn about having to watch MORE football games, I look forward to it. You can bet NFL teams will be scouting players and the best of the UFL will get a shot next year in the NFL (maybe even THIS year as the UFL season ends Thanksgiving weekend). I'm pretty happy the Miami Dolphins got Cameron Wake out of the CFL this year and if they could find another gem from the UFL -great!

I expect a decent level of football to be played by the UFL teams too, so it's not just about scouting players. It helps that I like the logo and colors for the Florida Tuskers team.
