They have an official under each goal post. I'm sure the camera just doesn't show it well enough.

How the hell was that called good? It's blatant.

This. Did any of the people declaring this the greatest screw job in sports history at least listen to Mike Pereira's explanation? He makes it clear that the officials under the goal posts have a much better view of the action than the TV cameras.

According to ESPN, the league has looked at the all the different angles of the kick and feel very confident that the refs made the right call on the field.

Case closed.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league feels the correct ruling was made.

"The field judge standing right underneath the upright called it good and we have reviewed video from multiple angles and seen nothing to dispute the call," Aiello said in an e-mail response.

This pic confirms what I thought I saw. I'm surprised more wasn't made of this.
When I watched it I thought he missed it too. But then they said it was good so I said OK, I guess. But now maybe I saw what I thought I saw after all.

People, look at the video that was posted. You can clearly see that the ball does not go through the up rights. It goes to the right of the post, outside of it..therefore, FG No Good. Even the picture in the OP confirms it. The ball disappeared behind the post, no good.

I dont know that looks really close but what angle was the video at? Maybe its just an illusion, but i have faith in the referres who had the best viewed and they both called it right without any hesitation. Also Shane Graham and the Bengals players immediatly celebrated, again no hesitation. I hope it wasnt a blown call because even though I'm a Bengals fan I want the right calls to be made, especially on a FG Attempt.

But for people saying it was obvisouly wrong, it obvisouly wasnt wrong. Its very close, and only the referees standing directly under know. And they both called it right so you gotta go with that.

If I was a Browns fan I would be pissed, I just dont want people to take this win from the Bengals and say a blown FG gave them this win. I wish we had more video angles, or a video that showed excatly what the refs saw.

Re: Blown call ? Cincy FG wide right? w/ pic

If the ball did cross between the uprights near the right post, some of the post would have disappeared behind the ball from our perspective, but that wasn't the case. The exact opposite happened.

The officials have a better view than anyone @ home or in the stadium, but it doesn't mean they're infallible.
