Re: any chance TO is traded to a playoff team?

This only makes sense for the Bills. They could save like 4 million get a pick and move on. Like Moss in Oakland or Edwards for the Browns if these guys or not happy and with good teams they don't go all out. I see the Vikes making a move since they are all in this year. They need someone for Brett to throw to and he once wanted TO. The Bills have to make this move like Oakland did with Moss and Browns just did with Edwards. When happy they become different players and TO needs a guy like Farve to put him in his place.

The football gods have this man in the football version of Purgatory. He is def in the first level of Dante's Inferno. Next step is getting traded to the Browns.

i would like to see the giants getting T.O. as much of a loud mouth as he is he is a phenomenal reciever when he is happy. the giants are a perfect fit because he would be there primary reciever thus he would get lots of passes thrown to him. usually any team that T.O is on makes the playoffs because of his recieving abilites.

Re: any chance TO is traded to a playoff team?

according to adam schefter, T.O. most likely isnt going anywhere, unfortunately for him

but im sure there are some teams that could use him

as far as a PLAYOFF team, he has such a bad rep, i dont know about anybody thats doing well going after him

i'd love to see the bucs take him only if he re-signed a new contract.... 3 years (including '09) for 12 mill
then that'd be cool, but im dreaming.............

With respect, bull-hooey.

TO has been in decline for sometime now. The numbers speak for themselves.

In Owens' first 29 games as a Cowboy, up to and through Thanksgiving of '07, here were his numbers:

29 games---156 catches---2429 yards---27 touchdowns.

In short---remarkable numbers. The stats of a Hall of Fame player ---which Owens will certainly be some day. If you wish to use averages, here was an average T. O. game through the first season and three quarters: 5.4 catches for 84 yards and a TD. EVERY WEEK! Sensational! Forget the drops. Forget that he began that run with Drew Bledsoe at the controls and then helped usher in the Romo era. What incredible numbers!

Now, lets look at the last 20 games of his Cowboy career starting in late '07. He missed one game to injury which obviously does not figure into the stats in any way. So, here's the T. O. of the last year and one quarter:

20 games---83 catches---1207 yards---11 TDs.

In short---good numbers of a good receiver but that's all. The averages? Per game he averaged: 4.2 catches for 60 yards and a TD every other game.

Look at the averages. The numbers fall off about 25% the last 20 games from the first 29.

Here are the exact game-by-game TO totals for those last 20 games:

Catches yards TD plays of more than 25 yards
3 21 0 0
2 37 0 0
5 48 1 0
4 49 1 0
2008
5 87 1 1
3 89 2 1
2 17 0 0
7 71 1 0
2 67 1 1
4 36 0 0
2 31 0 0*****
5 33 0 0*****
5 36 1 0*****
5 38 0 0
7 213 1 3
5 98 1 1
3 32 1 0
3 38 0 0
5 63 1 0
6 103 0 1

TOTAL 83 1207 11 8

Some observations.

Note that in his last 20 games he had only two 100 yards receiving games. One came in the blowout of San Fran and the other came as Philly was destroying the Cowboys in the '08 finale.

If you remove that one massive game against San Fran from his resume, in his other final 19 games as a Cowboy he averaged 4 catches for 52 yards per game.

Note also the absence of big plays. Other than the three huge plays in the SF contest Owens made only 5 other catches of over 25 yards in his final 20 games as a Cowboy.

The three asterisked games indicate the contests TO played with Brad Johnson at QB. But note that his average catches per game with Johnson was almost identical with that he recorded with Romo in the other 17 contests in this table.

Also note that in his final 20 games as a Cowboy. 10 times he had less than 40 yards receiving in a game. Her did continue to score a fair number of TDs, but even that rate fell off sharply compared to the rate he'd established through the first 29 games in Dallas.

TO has had a wonderful career. He was a terrific player for Dallas if you take the three years he spent here in total. But I believe it would be hard for even the most ardent TO supporter to look at the last 20 games of that Dallas stay and not concur that those are the numbers of a star player in decline.
Nobody is going to trade for Owens at this point. He's simply no longer worth the trouble.

Re: any chance TO is traded to a playoff team?

Only an idiot would blame him for anything this yr. ANd last yr, Romo missed games and played hurt all yr. Terrell Owens is still a top 15WR. And why would we take away the SF game? He had 200 yds. Lets take away Miles Austin game last wk while we're at it. That the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

He still draws Dbl team, so that in itself makes him a weapon. Its more to stats. The drops are a problem, but look at the 2 guys who had more than him. Edwards and Marshall. I hate when people bring up dumb stats and don't take into account its a team sport. Trent Edwards is the worst starting qb in the league and he has the worst Oline in the league. So we blame TO for that? If TO has declined, what happened to Lee Evans?

He's not a top 3WR like he once was, but being in the top 15 maybe even top 10 is good enough to still have an impact.

I'll grant you the that that the Bills are a complete mess. That fact has absolutely no bearing on the clear and obvious decline in Owens game since late 2007.

As for the Brad Johnson excuse, that doesn't hold water. "The three asterisked games indicate the contests TO played with Brad Johnson at QB. But note that his average catches per game with Johnson was almost identical with that he recorded with Romo in the other 17 contests in this table."

Not so. Opponents realized fairly early in the 2008 season that it was no longer necessary to double Owens. What's more, most teams chose to play press coverage against him (something that in years past would have been suicidal). His one big game in 08 came against SF, who inexplicably chose to play him soft.

No one is disputing the notion that Owens is capable of putting up better numbers than what has to date in Buffalo. What I am saying is that TO's last 24 games make it clear that his days of being a "top 15, maybe top 10" receiver are done.

Bottom line: in his last 24 games, Owens is averaging less than 4 catches and under 50 yards a game. At this point he's just a guy. That's why Dallas let him go, that's why no one other than Buffalo made any real effort to sign him, and that's why no one is going to trade for him now.
