As for the Brad Johnson excuse, that doesn't hold water. "The three asterisked games indicate the contests TO played with Brad Johnson at QB. But note that his average catches per game with Johnson was almost identical with that he recorded with Romo in the other 17 contests in this table."

Not so. Opponents realized fairly early in the 2008 season that it was no longer necessary to double Owens. What's more, most teams chose to play press coverage against him (something that in years past would have been suicidal). His one big game in 08 came against SF, who inexplicably chose to play him soft.

No one is disputing the notion that Owens is capable of putting up better numbers than what has to date in Buffalo. What I am saying is that TO's last 24 games make it clear that his days of being a "top 15, maybe top 10" receiver are done.

Bottom line: in his last 24 games, Owens is averaging less than 4 catches and under 50 yards a game. At this point he's just a guy. That's why Dallas let him go, that's why no one other than Buffalo made any real effort to sign him, and that's why no one is going to trade for him now.

Yeah ok, TO doesn't get dbled. THe 1st game vs the pats they played 2deep zones all night vs him and Evans. Last yr a safety was deep every game. It wasn't becuz of Crayton or Witten. U don't play press coverage against someone like him w/o safety help. Now their might be some DBs who play him better and don't need as much help. Mainly Springs or Revis. All those numbers prove is that TO isn't a Top 5wr any more. He's still TOp 15. U name 15 better wr than TO.

And for the record again, Trent Edwards is one of the 3 worst qbs starting. Him, Russell, and whoever starts for Tampa.

and he was pretty good in that Philly game on MNF last yr. They didn't even throw to him in the 2nd half. THe only numbers of TO's that worry me are drops. Thats it. Garrett is a horrible playcaller and doesn't adjust to what defenses do to him. And Romo locked in on Witten a lil too much last yr.

TO is in decline but he would be the best wr by a long shot on the Cowboys.

The best thing about the Giants passing game is that they can spread the ball around. Why would they bring in somebody to change that... especially somebody who will make noise if they don't change that and they are losing a game? The Giants seem perfectly fine with what they have, and if they did bring in a big time WR it'd need to be somebody ok with sharing the load.
