Glenn Dorsey On Trading Block?

Quote:
The Chiefs are down on DL Glenn Dorsey and may be willing to trade him, according to NFL.com's Jason La Canfora.

La Canfora says the new coaching staff doesn't like Dorsey, the No. 5 pick in the 2008 draft. He'd also be impossible to trade with a contract including $22.5 million guaranteed. Source: KCChiefs.com
hes only 21 games into his career so its a very surprising move that they mite wanna trade him.

This news is not too surprising to me since Glenn Dorsey doesn't fit the Chiefs current 3-4 defensive scheme. Dorsey's game dictates that he is a one-gap 3-tech defensive tackle in a 4-3 scheme and not a 5-tech end in the 3-4.

The Chiefs will take a hell of a salary cap hit once they move Dorsey, though. I guess they're willing to accept that fate.

I am surprise they are trying him at the 3-4 defensive end.

I don't know for sure, but the Chiefs probably felt that Dorsey would be too small to play the nose and likely wouldn't be able to hold his ground there during the course of a game. Most teams like their 3-4 nose tackles to be at least 320 pounds.

Re: Glenn Dorsey On Trading Block?

chiefs are stupid they should'ev already known the 3-4 isnt gonna be for dorsey this should'ev went down in draft day if it could'ev happened...... i really think ATL would be a good fit for dorsey with a GOOD coach which they have.

ATL should think about giving a 3rd for dorsey if thats ok with the chiefs

is it just me or is every player on the chiefs on a trading block?
bowe, dorsey, johnson the list continues while i am typing this.

Herm Edwards was head coach of the Chiefs when Glenn Dorsey was drafted. And the Chiefs were primarily running the Tampa-2 scheme back then. For teams running 4-3 defenses, Dorsey was the highest rated defensive tackle on the board coming out that year. So I can't fault the Chiefs for drafting him.
