No, they are all weighted equally.

I think they'd be a little more accurate with some weighting. I have a hard time believing that Denver (3 straight losses) is better than San Diego (4 straight wins). Vegas would agree --- the Chargers are a 3 point favorite on the road against the Broncos.

Vegas also had the Ravens favored by 2.5 at Cincy last week. Once you start adding weights then it does become a matter of opinion. The best thing to do is not take it literally.

Re: NFL Computer Rankings (Weekly Update)

Have you ever thought of taking these poll results and integrating them into your rankings?

Computer numbers alone can't tell the whole story. There needs to be a level of subjectivity involved.

Re: NFL Computer Rankings (Weekly Update)

Well that's kind of what I meant to do with having the OS Poll with my vote being the computer rankings. I think that the results of that are probably more accurate in general that the computer polls. I still like to have the pure computer ranking though because my goal is to get as good a formula as I can. To me, the perfect formula would be one that closely models how people subjectively rank teams, i.e. one that would match up well with the actual conducted polls in college football/basketball and the OS Poll for NFL.

Re: NFL Computer Rankings (Weekly Update)

But yes, I do agree that computer numbers can't tell the whole story. Especially with situations where teams like Tennessee switch quarterbacks and win four in a row. Clearly, they are better at this very moment than a computer ranking will ever show.
