Re: Rating your teams 2007 draft

Pittsburgh Steelers
1(15) - Lawrence Timmons, LB - Starting MLB
2(46) - Lamarr Woodley, DE - Starting LOLB
3 (77) - Matt Spaeth, TE - Solid #2 TE
4 (112) - Dan Sepulveda, P - Excellent P
4 (132) - Ryan McBean, DT - Cut before 2008 season, currently plays for Broncos
5 (156) - Cameron Stephenson, G - Cut before regular season, currently on Jaguars practice squad
5 (170) - William Gay, CB - Starting CB, average at best
7 (227) - Dallas BAker, WR - Spent 2007 on practice squad, saw limited action in '08, cut in final cuts before '09

The top 4 picks have become solid players while Gay is a decent corner but probably not an every down player. The other 3 picks are no longer on the team. Woodley and Timmons brought more youth the LB corp and have developed into very solid players typical of Steeler LB's. Sepulveda is a major upgrade and his value became apparent when he missed the entire 08 season due to injury and the Steelers couldn't find a consistent punting game

Faring much better than Waters, Siler had been on of the key players for the Chargers on Special Teams. However, injuries to both ILB Tim Dobbins and Kevin Burnett have given Siler more opportunities on defense. Siler has more than taken advantage of this opportunity and has seemingly improved with each start.
WOW! Did not know this guy was drafted in the 7th round. I was watching the Cowboys game on Sunday and kind of spotlighted this kid and I like what I see in him. I think he has great potential.

Yeah I'm the same way. Gotta keep tabs on division opponents.

2007 1 19(19) Titans Michael Griffin DB
Great value pick right here. Made the pro bowl a year ago but his play has declined this year, but astill a great player who is starting. A

2007 2 18(50) Titans Chris Henry RB
The first of three day 1 RBs we took, and the first and only to have
failed. FFFFF

2007 3 16(80) Titans Paul Williams
Was never good enough to even earn an opportunity. F

2007 4 16(115) Titans Leroy Harris C
Solid backup for the entire line. Will see some action soon if MAwae retires. B

2007 4 29(128) Titans Chris Davis WR
DUI = F

2007 6 30(204) Titans Jacob Ford DE
Awesome third down guy, great coming off the edge. Still a bit raw though. B-

2007 7 13(223) Titans Mike Otto OT
Decent back-up, not much else. D+

I didn't even bother with some of the picks, they were that bad.

I think a lot of people were surprised he fell that far. I'm glad the Chargers were able to get him though.

Re: Rating your teams 2007 draft

Not sure anyone cares, but irrelevant teams make draft picks too...To wit, the Detroit Lions 2007 draft:

1(2) WR Calvin Johnson Georgia Tech
2 (11) QB Drew Stanton Michigan State from BUF
2 (26) DL Ikaika Alama-Francis Hawaii from NO
2 (29) DB Gerald Alexander Boise State from BAL
4 (06) DB A.J. Davis North Carolina State from ARI through OAK
4 (18) OL Manuel Ramirez Texas Tech from STL
5 (21) LB Johnny Baldwin Alabama A&M from DEN
7 (45) DL Ramzee Robinson Alabama compensatory pick

Megatron is an unqualified superstar receiver with freak ability and a fluid, flowing style that makes the game look easy for him. Within 1-2 years - if he's blessed enough to be traded to a real live NFL team - he'll be the top receiver in football.

Who knows about Drew Stanton, but the Lions seem unwilling/uninterested to want to play him (as evidenced by the fact that Jim Schwartz mysteriously let Culpepper stay in the game until the bitter end of last week's debacle, despite the Lions being down by 45 points in the 4th quarter...). I guess the show of no-confidence means he's just not NFL-ready? Who knows...undecided grade, but still a wasted pick if you just don't play the guy.

Of the rest of the picks, I think only Manny Ramirez (the "other" Manny Ramirez) is still on our roster. That's about all you need to know about how that worked out....
