I don't know if there has just been more attention put on it or what but I can't remember a year when I saw more than one missed PAT in a year. They were always just automatic points but everytime I see a team line up for it I actually pay attention cause you don't know if they'll make it or not.

Back in the '70s and early '80s the XP was never automatic especially when there were more straight ahead kickers rather then the soccer style kickers today. So i'm sure there were years with more missed XPs then this year.

2009: 17 misses in 1,029 attempts (Including tonight).
2008: 6 in 1,176.
2007: 11 in 1,141.
2006: 10 in 1,123.
2005: 13 in 1,072.
2004: 9 in 1,147.
2003: 18 in 1,119.

That's as far back as I was willing to go.

wow, thats a staggering stat, wonder why we are having these many missed XP's

Yeah, it is strange. even FG% has shown a marked regression after improving each year from 2004-2008.

This year's PA's have been crazy , ive seen a ton of Extra Point's missed or blocked.

stat is going to increase imo after the steeler game. they need a new long snapper.
