2010 Terrell Owens = 2009 Allen Iverson

Terrell Owens will be a free agent for the 2010 season. This season, he...
  • Had more than 60 yards in only 3 games
  • Had more than 3 catches in only 5 games
  • Career-low 4 TD's
  • Ranks 40th in the league for receiving yards
  • Ranks 48th in the league for receptions
  • TDs, Receptions, 1st downs, and Yards all went down for the 3rd straight year
  • Will turn 37 years old sometime during the 2010 season
How many teams in 2010 will guarantee Terrell Owens a position as the starting WR for the entire season? Not very many I think. Most teams would consider the possibility of demoting him to 3rd on the depth chart if he doesn't produce. And therein lies the problem.

If you have T.O. on your team and you later demote him, he'll become your team's worst nightmare. And I can't imagine any coach taking that risk. Terrell Owens in 2010 will be the Allen Iverson of 2009. Someone who can still contribute a little, but carries too much baggage. Fortunately for Iverson, he found a home in the welcoming arms of Philadelphia. He's beloved there, despite all his flaws.

Is T.O. beloved anywhere?

The saddest part is this: If he is ever enshrined in the Hall of Fame... he may have to be enshrined as a Buffalo Bill. None of his previous teams will want to be associated with him at all.

Have you checked out the Bills passing attack....hell, their offense for that matter, this year?

Check out Lee Evans' numbers. Lowest of his career across the board except in TDs.

There's a nice warm jersey for him in Oakland, the weather is nice to!

No offense but I would never wish a fate as sad as that to even TO.

You did a fantastic job of showing how to not use stats. I don't know how much gas TO has left in the tank, but I'm pretty sure he could be a solid #2 WR in a system who's coach and GM are alive. The Bills didn't have that luxury this year.

You know Jerry Jones pretty much had to have his arm twisted behind his back to let go of T.O. right? If they don't win their first game in the Playoffs this year, it just proves that T.O. wasn't the problem with Dallas. Especially considering when he got there they were in the playoffs and Romo botched the snap on a win against the Seahawks. Even as a Bears fan, I'm certain that they would have went to the Super Bowl that season as they could have beat Chicago in that next game and New Orleans after that. So I'm not so certain that Dallas wouldn't want to be associated with him at all, though the relationship between he and Jerry might be strained due to the way he was released. But time usually heals all wounds when people produce the way Owens has for some of these teams.

He can contribute to a contending team, he won't be at a fledgling team like the Rams where he can carry a team anymore, but he can contribute in the right set up. T.O. is a fit S.O.B. and I can see him contributing good numbers ala Jerry Rice did at the backend of his career at Oakland.
