Sorry, but Manning might be the most valuable asset of all time.

Re: MVP Discussion

I don't want to come off as a homer but I cannot believe Rivers isn't getting more recognition.

The Chargers had the single worst running game in the league (yards per carry) at 3.3 YPC.

They lost their starting center (the most important OL position) in the first half of the first game of the season and had a nobody filling in for him. The Chargers also lost their starting RG and LT for periods of the season and Rivers still carried the team to 11 straight wins to end the season and continued his unbeaten streak for his career in December.

For good measure:

Vincent Jackson: 61st Overall Pick
Legedu Naanee: 172nd Overall Pick
Antonio Gates: Undrafted
Malcom Floyd: Undrafted
Kassim Osgood: Undrafted

Of course that speaks more to the Chargers talent evaluators, but Gates, Jackson, Floyd, and Naanee all had their best years as pros. Rivers deserves a ton of credit.

Over the course of their careers OK. But just based on this year its a push in my opinion. And its not like the back-up is a good back up. There is zero reason to think that Curtis Painter can be good other than the fact that Bill Polian drafted him. You could have put the top 3 QB's in this years draft at both the Colts and Saints for one game and all three probably would have looked like trash. Atleast Brunnel was great once upon a time. So to me that agruement is pointless the Packers go no where without Rodgers the Chargers are up s**ts creek without Phillips. And the Saints go 3-13 without Brees.

That puts him above Sean Alexander , LT , Adrian Peterson , Ronnie Brown , or anyone else in this league. All the backs i listed are Greats that recently retired or some of the top notch players at some time in there career. If CJ doesnt even get in the top 3 in votes its a crime if u ask me.
How many of those greats have been MVP? How many 2000 yard rushers have been MVP? I personally don't think CJ is even in the conversation but don't have a problem with people who do. But I need good reason for the argument. This isn't good reasoning. He's doing what Jamal Lewis did for the Ravens a few years ago... put up crazy stats for a team that didn't make the playoffs. Not even a sniff of the MVP discussion.

In all fairness, CJ is having a much better season than Lewis had.

Jamal 2003: 2066 rush yards, 205 rec yards, 14tds, NFL record 295 rush yards in a game... 500 rush yards against 1 team (2 games).

Chris this year: 2006 rush yards, 503 rec yards, 16 tds, 284 total yards in one game.

I'm not saying Jamal had a better year than Johnson but I can't see how CJ had a "much" better year than Jamal (if better at all). I forgot, the Ravens actually did make the playoffs that year after going 10-6 if that kind of thing fits in the discussion... of course they lost to the Titans.

Didn't 25% of his yards come against the Clowns?
