If the kid loves football take the money. Education can wait and you can still learn outside of a classroom.

This is the way to go IMO. I wonder what Pat Haden's father told him? He was a Rhodes Scholar and ended up with a middling NFL career. I have to think maybe in the back of his mind he regrets going for the football dream just a bit.

Definitely go pro. But staying in school isn't a bad option if you've got a good protective insurance policy.
