Then let's just rename MVP to best quarterback. Seriously, if we establish quarterbacks as the most important position on the field, then logically, there is no reason to consider any other position for the award.

Re: Chris Johnson: Biggest MVP Heist In History?

If we are placing vaule based on what a player means to that teams records. How is Favre more deserving then CJ? Wasnt the Vikings 10-6 and divisional champs last year? Favre improved on the record by two wins and thats most valuable?

Im disgusted with the media love affair with QB's. I know why but I wont get into it though. Cant. The key to consistently winning in the playoffs is running the ball and playing defense. Yet we are lead to believe QB's are so much more valuable then ever other player on the field.

LOL. So now Quarterback is not the most valuable position in football? Really?

Continue on with calling CJ the biggest MVP heist in history while the rest of us get ready for the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs.
Seriously.

Would you rather build your franchise around Peyton Manning or Chris Johnson?

Re: Chris Johnson: Biggest MVP Heist In History?

You keep saying that Marshall Faulk won it in 2000 because of the record he set.

That is incorrect, there is more to why Marshall won the MVP award in 2000 than the Yards From Scrimmage Record. He also at the time set the most TDs in a single-season with 26 (18 rushing and 8 receiving TDs). Also, the best QB from that season was Brian Griese with a 102.1 QB rating, which would be fifth this season.

Chris Johnson scored 16 total TDs, which is great, but not exceptional. The past MVP running backs have compiled the following stats:

LaDainian Tomlinson: 1815 Yds, 5.2 YPC, 28 TDs; 56 Rec, 508 Yds, 3 TDs.
Shaun Alexander: 1880 Yds, 5.1 YPC, 27 TDs; 15 Rec, 78 Yds, 1 TD.
Marshall Faulk: 1359 Yds, 5.4 YPC, 18 TDs; 81 Rec, 830 Yds, 8 TDs.
Terrell Davis: 2008 Yds, 5.1 YPC, 21 TDs; 25 Rec, 215 Yds, 2 TDs.
Barry Sanders: 2053 Yds, 6.1 YPC, 11 TDs; 33 Rec, 305 Yds, 3 TDs.

Chris Johnson compares close to Barry Sanders MVP season, but that season no QB stood out except for maybe Favre, who had 35 TDs and 3800+ passing yards, but a QB rating of 92.6, which wouldn't even place him in the top 10 of QBs this season. Steve Young had the best QB rating that year, but only 19 passing TDs.

Chris Johnson's season was phenomenal, but with how good QBs are these days, it takes more than just accumulating yards. Jamal Lewis had a similar 2003 season where he rushed for 2066 yards and caught for 205 more, but only scored 14 TDs and easily gave way to Co-MVPs Peyton Manning and Steve McNair. Simply put, put the points on the table for your team, then you'll get consideration.

....really? You mean you didn't notice this being discussed in like, eight other threads?

There is NO reason for Chris Johnson to be considered in the MVP voting. Why? He wasn't valuable for anything. The team missed the playoffs.

As a SINGLE position player, it probably can't. However, I'd take an amazing offensive line unit before I take an amazing quarterback, I think.
