Chris Johnson: Biggest MVP Heist In History?

2,509 yards from scrimmage - NFL Record
125 rushing yards in six straight games - NFL Record
800 yards rushing in a single month (November) - NFL Record
Three touchdown runs of 85+ yards - No running back has that many in a career
Unanimous All-Pro selection
Offensive Player Of The Year

All of those accomplishments are absolutely incredible but somehow he didn't receive a single MVP vote. This is one of the greatest seasons in NFL history and not one writer gave him an MVP vote. Only quarterbacks received MVP votes this year and it's really not shocking considering how quarterbacks are responsible for every team accomplishment by themselves, or at least that's the impression the media gives us. Clearly, CJ should have played better defense and willed his team into the playoffs if he wanted to win MVP.

Keep up the great work, sports writers of America, maybe soon you'll be able to pull your heads out of your collective asses.

This has been discussed in 50 threads here.

He was the best offensive player but Manning was a more valuable player. The awards did a good job reflecting this.

The Offensive Player of the Year award was specifically made for a player like Chris Johnson.

Manning, Brees, Rivers, and Favre deserved all of their MVP votes.

Doesn't being the best offensive player in the NFL automatically make you more valuable than any other offensive player in the NFL? Marshall Faulk won MVP in 2000 when he set the very record that Chris Johnson broke. In light of that, shouldn't he at least be CONSIDERED for MVP?

This has been discussed a million times already, and I think the majority of OS(the minority being Titan fans) agree with the voters on this one. Seriously, you're like a week late to the party my friend.

Continue on with calling CJ the biggest MVP heist in history while the rest of us get ready for the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs.

The Rams also went 10-6 that year and won their division. Winning is a prerequisite for the MVP award. You aren't valuable if your team doesn't win. Tennessee went 8-8 this year. They went 0-6 to start the year with Johnson in the starting lineup. You don't get the MVP if your team isn't good. That's just the way it is.

This makes absolutely no sense and I'm really getting tired of it. The general populous puts so much emphasis on winning in order to make the sport seem more legitimate, that they constantly make unbelievably ignorant claims like "if he was the MVP, he would've helped his team make the playoffs." No singular player has ever been solely responsible for the success or failure of their respective team, it is physically and mathematically impossible. It's like saying only one person at NASA was responsible for the moon landing. It's a group effort and one can only be held accountable for their specific job.

Chris Johnson put up a great offensive season and that's why he won OPOY. Manning is far more valuable to his team than Chris Johnson is to the Titans. RB's are probably one of the most replaceable players on the roster while you saw what the Colts looked like under the Curtis Painter Experience.
