Re: Super Bowl without a Pro Bowl QB?

Choosing a riskier pick in Clausen who has just as much/more chance of being a bust than he does being a star vs. taking a safer pick in Suh who could still be a bust but it's certainly a lot less likely is stupid imo for a rebuilding team.

All of the QB's that have suceeded their rookie years lately (Sanchez, Ryan, & Flacco) were put onto teams with a strong supporting cast that just needed a QB to get to the next level not teams that need to start from the inside out.

There's a QB as good as Clausen in every draft. Suh is a once in a decade talent.

Take Suh this year, and then when the Rams are drafting high again next year they can take some other QB.

You win with a QB. Therefore, in an weak QB class next year IMO, the Rams need Clausen.
There are idiot Redskins fans making this same argument.

If both are franchise players, you take the QB over the DT.

However, when one is a franchise player and the other isn't even good, you take the DT.

Warren Sapp was the centerpiece of the entire Super Bowl winning Tampa Bay defense & the Tampa 2 defensive scheme.

A DT certainly helps, and plus there's not much of a drop-off in QB quality from the first round to UDFA this year. This year, even if you're need-picking, it's better to go with a late-round guy that's easy to cut than a big-money QB that's just as likely to bust. Suh is definitely the better player in most people's opinion, as well.
