Pass orientated or not, no WR will play as long as Jerry Rice nor put up numbers consistently like Rice. Marv Harrison could've come close catching balls from Manning, as close as one would get. But he is done.

We'll agree to disagree here.

On Smith's record, yeah, tend to agree with you. I think it's outta reach. As we move forward, players just won't be able to compete and play as much as guys like Smith and Rice. Just won't happen. They are taking too much-a-beating against physical specimen's that are just freaks.

I am 99.9% certain I won't be here to see Smith overtaken or Rice's numerous records broken.

I think Rice's records will stand for a long time, as no one playing today is going to catch him.

But someday, someone will break at least some of them. You have to consider how many guys posted records that seemed impossible to break at one time, but were broken eventually even though it took several eras. Plus, with the NFL becoming more and more a patty-cake league, receivers stats will only become more inflated.

Moss actually has about 1,000 more yards than Rice at the same age and 17 more TDs.

Granted, he certainly doesn't seem like the type of player who will want to play to forty, but given his numbers with the QBs he's had, Rice's records are definitely reachable.

Moss is close, will most likely come as close any many, though won't play nearly as long to seriously challenge. That will be the same chorus song for many after Moss.

Most good teams use multiple backs. Making Smith's record almost unreachable.

Not a TO fan, but McNabb, Garcia (I know he played a little with Young), and Romo are not Montana-Young. If TO played with a Brees, Brady or/and Manning AND didn't have an ATTITUDE no telling what he could do. Some of the more savvy X and O guys correct me, but didn't Rice have a little more of an advantage because his coach (Bill Walsh) implemented what is now known as the "West Coast Offense" and was able to refine it more during his 49er tenure. Were the defenses more vulnerable to it in the 80s? I'm asking.
