Fran Tarkenton Rips Brett Favre

"I have never seen any quarterback much less, well he is going to be a Hall of Fame quarterback, make plays like that at a critical time. He has done the same thing in the Giants game (a Packers loss in the 2007 NFC title game). He plays at home, has the better team and plays against Eli (Manning). He was a young kid right? And he throws the pick ... and then he does what he did the other night which was just shameful because great quarterbacks, and he is a great quarterback, they don't do that. You don't see Peyton Manning do that."

Really Fran!?

Completely agree with him. Favre is the only QB that can screw up as much as he wants and never get called out for it. Nobody in the media makes excuses Peyton, Romo, Rodgers, or even Brady. Tarkenton has every right to be bitter.

it was a stupid play. they should have gone for medium yards to kick the fg. - not throw across your body way down the field while running in the opposite direction. It was stupid.

Re: Fran Tarkenton Rips Brett Favre

Never mind the Vikings six fumbles, including two critical ones lost by Peterson and Harvin. Never mind the porous offensive line of the Vikings that couldn't protect Favre for more than two seconds. Never mind the conservative playcalling by Brad Childress on that final Vikings drive, not attempting to move the ball down the field when he knows his kicker doesn't have the strongest leg. Never mind that Sidney Rice didn't make any sort of concerted effort to come back to the ball on that last admittedly ill-advised pass.

No, it's all Favre's fault and it's solely Favre's fault that the Vikings lost.

Re: Fran Tarkenton Rips Brett Favre

I'm not respecting much of Tarkenton these days. How many SB's did he win? Or better yet, lose?

Plus, this was already posted in the Favre thread, so now there is another Favre thread. Ugh.

Tarkenton also said something about Favre regarding his injury as well, which was just inconsiderate. Oh yeah, said he was just flailing on the field.

I think Fran has had a beef with Favre ever since he came back the last time and was just waiting for this to happen so he can have his big "i told you so" moment

A renowned 70-year old NFL Hall of Famer & Minnesota sports hero makes a well-reasoned public criticism regarding the current Minnesota quarterback, a position he had held for twelve years.

A geek who'd never thrown a pass without the use of an analog stick responds by taking cheap shots from behind his computer screen.

I love the Internet!
