Re: 2010 Hall of Fame Class

I'm not saying Floyd Little wasn't an important player for Denver, but so was Terrell Davis and if you took Davis off those two Super Bowl teams the Broncos don't win squat.

I gotta be honest, besides Rice and Smith this class is at least questionable. There were some indisputable all-time great players passed up for guys that quite frankly no one was really considering great HOF caliber players, and I think a few of these really surprised people.

Re: 2010 Hall of Fame Class

I'm a bit conflicted about the Cris Carter situation. On one hand, he's an obvious first ballot Hall of Famer based solely on merit. On the other, I agree with a bit of the message that the voters are sending by keeping the number of new WRs inducted down. The change in rules has altered the way we have to evaluate players at the offensive skill positions. I'd definitely like to see Andre Reed get in the Hall, though. On top of his stellar regular season statistics, he had some great moments in the playoffs and was a part of one of the most prolific offenses in NFL history. Intangible qualities like that are going to be what separate the good from the great in the eyes of the voters. Don't be surprised when Hines Ward gets into Canton.

Anyone have thoughts on Charles Haley not being included? He totaled 100.5 sacks in 12 seasons, played in the Pro Bowl 5x and was a 2x first team All-Pro selection. Not to mention he has more Super Bowl rings than any player in history (five). I'm surprised he hasn't been mentioned in here yet.

Aside from the 5 rings, he wasn't a better defender than Kennedy, Randle, Jackson, or other pass rushers of the time. I just don't think he should make it in.

As PFR nicely lays out, he doesn't compare favorably to Doleman or Greene: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/blog/?p=5325

Yeah I'm not really sure how Floyd Little got in.

Glad to see Russ Grimm get in, and figured Rice and Smith were locks for this year.

I'm just going to say Jim Marshall's name again, since no one else has mentioned him.

I could start the Doug Williams argument again (after all it's the "Hall of Fame" not the "Hall of Statistics") but I won't. People were so offended last year...

You're really bad at the "Hall of Fame" thing.

Jim Marshall played for a very long time without missing a game. That's it.

Doug Williams was the first black quarterback to win a Super Bowl. That's it.
