And the reason that they would want to make this trade rather than sign Vick and draft Suh is because, according to this article, they think Johnson will be better than Vick.

According to this, the Rams have explored the possibility of trading their #1 pick for the Bucs #3 overall pick, their 3rd round pick, and QB Josh Johnson, who they apparently see as possibly developing into a better passing version of Michael Vick.

I think I would hug a stranger if the Bucs can pull this trade off.
How about they set their sights a little higher?

Vick was pretty good in his prime. I'd be pretty happy if I had a Michael Vick that could pass the ball well.

Re: Rams to trade #1 Pick?

Why pass on Suh? If nothing, he's a sure starter for a long time in this league, he may not be a potential HOF'er, All Pro or anything like that but if you can find a player who will be productive for a long time then why pass them up? The other QBs in this Draft have a lot of question marks and even if they are drafted who exactly are they going to throw to? Donnie Avery? Amendola? No knock on them but seriously the only offensive threat is Jackson & he's been run into the ground.

The team needs to play and Draft towards the coaching staff's expertise: D-line. Spagnola was brought in because of what his D-line did to one of the most prolific offenses & teams in NFL history. Don't handcuff the guy by sticking him with a QB who won't pay dividends for another couple of years especially when the NFC West is one of the weaker divisions in the entire league.

Makes perfect sense to me. Probably doesn't make sense to the casual Rams fan though. And either way, I'm praying they make this trade because I'm a Bucs fan.

Yeah, a "better passing Michael Vick" would be a contender for the best player of all time. Aside from Lebron, Mike Vick is the best overall athlete for his sport that I've seen.

Instead, Josh Johnson is a far less athletic and worse passer than Vick.

No, I think it's a bad trade for the Rams as well. I don't think it's necessarily a bad move to trade their pick, but if they do they should be getting something better than Johnson for it, like multiples picks, even if they're only moving down a couple spots.

Think about it, Johnson probably won't pan out, especially given who is on the Rams team right now. Plus, the Rams could probably just wait for Johnson to become a FA and just sign him then for much less than giving up the 1st pick in the draft.

Essentially what I'm seeing is the Rams are basically trading their 1st pick to the Bucs for their 3rd. Doesn't sound good to me.
