Re: NFL Scouting Combine 2010

Why do Quarterbacks and offensive linemen run the 40? What the hell is the point?

honestly the 40 is useless. 3-cone drills say more than a 40 time does imo

Toby Gerhart ran a 4.53 40. I'm interested in seeing how he fares in the NFL. Simply because there are hardly any white running backs.

Re: NFL Scouting Combine 2010

i was suprised he was white. he seems like a good back to be in the running for the heisman. someone will give him a shot he has a name because of his heisman run. i always go back to marshall faulk and gearson hearst. they both lost to gino tirata for the heisman and had good careers, well marshall prob be first year hof.

Really surprised Chris Johnsons record hasn't been broken yet. I mean we got the NCAA indoor 60 meter champ in Jacoby Ford, 100 meter champ in Holiday, and C.J. Spiller who was a 60 meter finalists. Spillers official time was 4.37, but I think he ran in the mid 4.2s.

No, based on the way he runs with the ball, and a little speed doesn't hurt.

Also, Gerhart had a 38" vertical. WHo said white boys can't jump?

Re: NFL Scouting Combine 2010

Gerhart deserves a shot at HB. Even if he ran a 4.7 he still would have deserved a shot at HB.

He carries the ball well, runs hard and has a good instinct for reading blockers. He probably needs to work on limiting contact. Bettis said he felt like he'd die after his rookie year before he learned to take care of his body.

I'm rooting for the guy but most of us grown ups know that perception is reality in the NFL and coaches too often make decisions based on perception.

I'm rooting for Gerhart to squash the "white guy RB" myth much like the ridiculous "Black QBs screw up" myth.
