Easily Peyton Manning. It doesn't matter that he plays QB. He's literally coaching the team. He's also the reason that the Colts play so well in the regular season --- he's a perfectionist and expects his teammates to play at a playoff level every single game. The result has been 7 straight seasons with 12+ regular season wins. You don't pull that off unless the locker room is always on the same page.

Locker room on the same page? Do you remember what happened to Edge? Have you forgotten that Marvin Harrison KILLED A GUY in the offseason?

You give Peyton too much credit.

Can't get much better then Ray Lewis and Brian Dawkins. We all know about Lewis, but I love the NFL Films clip on Brian Dawkins and "Weapon X." He's a madman on the field, and that's why I love him and was sad to see him leave Philly this past season for Denver. He brings that intensity every game... it's just pure awesomeness to watch.

I'd throw in Drew Brees here. He's the QB, but he's the guy who's the rah rah guy in the pregame huddles and everyone takes his lead.

I'd like to say Larry Fitzgerald too. I think he has an incredible will to win and he has the physical tools to put that will into motion. Just throw it up to him. The way he elevated his game in the Cardinals Super Bowl run of a year ago was amazing to watch.

I have a feeling this thread is headed down the 'Peyton Manning is overated' road, but then again thats how all his threads end up.

I think I have some video of Cecil somewhere. I do remember he was just a crazy man on defense. The problem was that he was TOO reckless at times.

Anywho....

DEF: Probably Ray Lewis
OFF: Manning

in the last 30 years: Mike Singletary
