Al Davis and the Raiders don't want to win?

But somehow Davis is the laughing stock of the league and Danny Boy is in the middle of the pack?

Serious head scratcher.

The Redskins at least occasionally do win. Not that they're a dynasty or even a good franchise, but they've finished .500 or better 3 of the last 5 years and made the plays twice.

The Raiders have had 7 straight 5 or fewer win seasons which I believe is an NFL record.

With the Redskins, there's generally at least a logical thought process. We needed WRs so Danny got Lloyd and Randel-el. We needed more sacks so he bought the best DL in the game. Granted, they don't work out all that often, but there's generally a thought process.

If someone would explain to Snyder what an offensive line is, the Redskins could actually be a good team.

With Al, there's no logic. He drafts a QB whose only quality is that he can throw very far and then trades the best deep ball receiver ever for nothing. He trades high draft picks for a player in the last year of his contract. He drafts a borderline first round receiver #7.

That goes without saying but the Redskins ain't no Steelers. What I meant is if they're going to do boneheaded moves as always, why not take advantage of it in a season when they won't even have to worry about a salary cap?

Bruce Smith wasn't a bad decision but it also was a move that probably shouldn't have been made considering:

A. He was already on the decline and everyone knew he wouldn't even be half as good as he was in Buffalo.

B. Only reason he continued playing was he was chasing Reggie's Sack Record which ultimately got.

Everyone knew he was on the decline. The Redskins knew he was on the decline.

However, Bruce Smith wasn't anywhere near as bad a move as people make him out to be.

In his 3 years as a starter he averaged 8 sacks and the Redskins' defense went from an average of 27th in the two years before him (30th the year before him) to sixth his first 3 years.

If Darren Sproles signs with the Redskins and they can get a good offensive line, this team could be in the playoffs next season.

Maybe. However, he's too small to be a 'feature' back.

Portis and Sproles can split the carries.
