Redskins back to their old spending habits?

According to Sporting News and the Washington Post, the Redskins are reportedly set to make big money offers to DE Julius Peppers and RB Darren Sproles.

The report says that the Redskins will make him a big offer Friday to play alongside $100 million DT Albert Haynesworth. It also says that if they were able to sign Peppers, new defensive coordinator Jim Haslett would consider shifting to a 3-4 defense to accommodate him (Peppers has said he prefers to play OLB in a 3-4 scheme).

WOW. I guess the likely hood of an uncapped year might come into play for some teams after all.

What do you guys think about the possible moves in Washington?

Re: Redskins back to their old spending habits?

As a Redskins fan I have mixed reaction. Yes, the Redskins have no problem spending money. I don't really have a problem with spending money as long as they are making smart purchases. The Yankees spend boat loads of money and it works out for them.

Back on topic. At least these are two decent players, and Sproles could be the game changing player that the Skins have lacked for some time.

That's a lot of money to spend for 6 or 7 wins.

Snyder is easily the second worst owner in the league.

LOL at the thought of Sproles making a difference in on that team. Their biggest problem is consistency in the passing game.

The biggest problem is the offensive line and that has been the problem for the last four years.

Synder is in about the middle of owners. I'll take his bad moves of trying to get better over cheap owners who don't spend money.

As for spending a lot of money, that's not the problem.

The Redskin's problem is who they spend the money on. As bad as Snyder is at identifying talent, he's probably the best in the leage at signing contracts. Every year the Redskins are going to be in "cap hell", yet every year they manage to sign big name free agents and a high draft pick.

And this stems from a lack of consistency in the coaching department. In one thread somebody said name a bad team with a good QB. I say name a good QB with no consistency in a offensive scheme.
