2010 Playoff Predicitons

It's kind of early, but with the draft behind us I think it will be fun to make some early predictions on who will make the playoffs.

My Picks:
AFC

AFC North Winner: Ravens

AFC South Winner: Texans

AFC West Winner: Chargers

AFC East Winner: Patriots

Wildcards: Titans, Jets

NFC

NFC North Winner: Packers

NFC South Winner: Saints

NFC West Winner: 49ers

NFC East Winner: Cowboys

Wildcards: Vikings, Falcons

In the AFC, I had trouble picking between the Texans & the Titans and really think it could go either way.

Obviously leaving the Colts out is pretty farfetched but the Super Bowl loser has only made the playoffs 2 of the last 9 seasons. (the Seahawks & Cardinals who both won weak divisions & lost in the divisional round) They would probably need a lot to go wrong, but the Titans & Texans are two quality teams.

In the NFC, the entire NFC East was hard to call and I think anyone can win that division. I think by splitting most of the divisional matchups the teams that don't win the division will be out of reach for the wildcard because it will be so competitive.

Meaningless stat and those teams didn't have Peyton Manning. Only way the Colts miss the Playoffs is if injuries hit them HARD which is completely unpredictable. Otherwise they're a 12+ win team again.

I agree that just because it's happened before doesn't mean it will happen. But, I do think there is a Superbowl hangover effect caused by the letdown of last year, and to make the Super Bowl you need to get a lot of breaks and good luck with injury, and have things go your way which probably evens itself out. Honestly, it's just wishful thinking. I think they could very very easily be a team with a playoff bye.

I don't believe in Super Bowl hangovers. But that's just me. You look over the last several Super Bowl runner ups that missed the Playoffs the next year, they all have something in common: Injuries.

Even IF there is such a thing, those teams didn't have as many great players, leaders, and coaches like the Colts do(aside from the Patriots which the only reason they missed the Playoffs was because Brady missed the entire year and hell they still won 11 games that year and were a tiebreaker away from winning the division).

Just having Peyton Manning at QB assure you of a winning season as long as he stays on the field which he has always done. The Colts should win 11-12 games again and be the favorites to win the South.
