PITTSBURGH -- Investigators told Channel 11 News reporter Renee Kaminski that former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes had to be escorted off a plane Thursday night at Pittsburgh International Airport.
Investigators said it the incident happened shortly after 9 p.m. They said Holmes wasn't arrested but was escorted off the plane for what investigators call being a "disruptive passenger."
No other information has been released at this time.
Stay with Channel 11 News and WPXI.com for updates.
Earlier this month, the New York Jets acquired the talented but troubled wide receiver from the Steelers in return for a fifth-round pick in the NFL draft.

As we previously noted, New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes was escorted off a plane on Thursday night for being "disruptive."

It turns out that the source of the disruption was Holmes' refusal to turn off his iPod when the flight crew asked him to.

Jets head coach Rex Ryan said he had been apprised of the situation, and he acknowledged that Holmes was in the wrong.

"This was kind of blown out of proportion, it seems like," Ryan said. "He certainly should have turned off his iPod. When I speak to him, I'll tell him that. He certainly should do that."

Whether Ryan thinks the story has been blown out of proportion or not, the fact remains: Holmes has already been sued, suspended and traded this offseason, and through it all he continues to demonstrate an attitude that he believes the rules don't apply to him.

I've never been asked to turn off my iPOD in a plane before. That's some weird stuff...

Yup,..it is common proceedure for all passengers to turn off all electronic devices just before take off.

Oh well Jets fans,..it is gonna be an interesting season with Mr. Holmes on the roster.

Every plane I've ever been on the stewardess asks all passengers to shut off any electronic devices including, IPODs, cell phones, etc. from a minute or so from take off until it's in the air.

Well, I'm not wearing it when we take off...but I do turn it on in my carry on.

Whatever. I don't see why he just couldn't comply.
