If you were scouting between these safeties?

One safety is extremely versatile. Probably one of the most versatile ever. Excels at blitzing, coverage, and open field tackles. Great playmaker. Is a great leader and makes definite impact on team.

Second safety is not are versatile as first, but most than capable of doing the same roles. Legendary in zone coverage and ball hawking ability. Probably greatest ever. Also has uncanny ability to return interceptions and fumbles for touchdowns. Excellent playmaker. Also a great leader.

If that was a scouting report, who would you pick?

Re: If you were scouting between these safeties?

Honestly, even the comparisons between the two won't be fair probably ever again. They've both had serious injuries that effect how they play. They're both still insane and the best in the business but neither is as good as they were in some area or another. Reed will never be a great tackler again with the neck injury, and probably will never blitz like a bullet shot from a gun like he used to. People probably forget that he even had that part of his game.

Troy seems like he doesn't care about the injuries and will keep running into brick walls but every time he comes back from one you have to think he's a little less effective, even though he's still amazing.

i think I'll take reed, but troy makes some unbelievable interceptions. its very hard to see such great safeties play at the same time playing at such a high level making their respective defenses better , both will be HOFers

And imagine if Sean Taylor was still with us. I still think he would've been better than both.

The one think that Taylor did that separates him from the others to me was the time when Moss (in Minny) ran deep up middle field and he ran stride for stride with him and knocked away a jump ball. It's probably in most his highlight vids. That was truly amazing.
