You can never be underrated playing for the Cowboys.

Going on the general consensus of football savvy people he's rated about where he belongs. Good but not great QB who's in the middle of the pack when rating the leagues signal callers.
I think you nailed it on the head there BK. I will say there's certain segments of the football media that still sing Romo's praises just a little TOO much but by and large the hype has gone down immensely. Romo's no slouch but he's not some uber great QB like some Cowboys fans would have you believe. Hell, my sister's boyfriend is a Cowboys fan and he jokes about Romo sucking at times LOL. When Romo burst on the scene though he was just like everyone else calling him the next great Cowboys QB.

QB's I would take over Romo (in no particular order).

#1: Peyton Manning
#2: Tom Brady
#3: Drew Brees
#4: Carson Palmer
#5: Brett Favre
#6: Donovan McNabb
#7: Eli Manning
#8: Aaron Rodgers
#9: Phillip Rivers
#10: Ben Roethlisberger

Probably number 11 or 12 on my list.

Eh, I wouldn't take Palmer over Romo personally.

I've always felt he was and have obviously realized I'm very alone in that belief. Every SB he won, I saw a strong underrated Oline and a very good defense. 2 keys to winning a SB. He did a great job of managing the offense and not putting the team in spots, but I feel any good (not great) QB could have done that.

I say his 1st SB came b/c of a blown tuck rule call. His 2nd SB, comes b/c the kicker kicked the ball out of bounds just after they took the lead. I'll give him the 3rd SB, b/c that more or less was McNabb's short coming and not Brady getting lucky.

Add this to the fact that I saw a QB who hadn't played in a game since high school, lead the team to 11 wins (any other year, they're in the playoffs), and put up pro bowl numbers on the same time.

I believe Brady is good, not great. Especially not the HOF'er everyone makes him out to be.

It appears he had a bit of time with the Colts and Cardinals too, and didn't really fare well with those teams either.
Oh I know who he is/was, just stating why does his opinion matter?

As for Romo, I like the guy. I mean, he's the best thing we've had since Troy Aikman and most teams would kill to have a steady, stable signal caller on their roster like Romo.
