He can come to the Jags for the rest of the year.

He should be a decent backup option somewhere. I don't know how you lose a job to Ryan Fitzpatrick, though. Ugh.

Re: Bills release Trent Edwards

He should get a shot somewhere. The guy showed some great spurts of being a quality QB in the league until that concussion, crappy Bills management & horrid O-Line ruined him.

Good thing he gets his walking papers now though so he can try to salvage what's left of his career by either catching on as a 3rd stringer on an NFL team or even the UFL.

I pretty much agree with everybody here. There are to many holes at the QB position for this guy not to land somewhere. Honestly this may be better for him.

Re: Bills release Trent Edwards

He'll be the Redskins starter next year once McNabb leaves for Minny or Zona.

Whoah...slow down there. Trust me...being cut by arguably the worst team in the NFL for not being as good as Ryan Fitzpatrick is NOT a good thing, no matter how you slice it. The problem was with Edwards, not the team he was playing for. You could put him on the Colts and he'd still be awful (but Joseph Addai would lead the team in receptions).

^^^This.

Some people need to relax with the praise. You're blaming what surrounded him, yet he was part of that problem. He was awful. And he lost his job to another awful QB in Ryan Fitzpatrick. He can't even QB for an awful team like the Bills, so I'd say he has zero chance of starting anywhere in this league right now. Like I said, solid backup option, but that's it.

I don't think Edwards is a superb QB by any standard, but when you have no protection you're not going to succeed. He doesn't even have a capable TE to dump down to.
