They got the picks to burn, so yeah, it's not a bad move for the Pats. But you'd think they could have gotten a better WR than this, if that's what they were going after.

Re: Seattle trading Deion Branch to Patriots

Branch knows the system verrrrrrrry well. They appear to be returning to their possession offense. So the trade makes a ton of sense. They gave them their 4th rounder, which means they still have 7 picks in the first 4 rounds, 3 probably in the top 35-40 range.

The trade makes sense. Branch is an outside possesion-type receiver. Branch and Tate on the outside, Tate is obviously their burner. Then you have Welker and Eedelman on the inside. I dunno, that seems like a pretty good corp right there.

I'm with ya. It looks like they're going back to the Patriots style that got them their Super Bowls

I'll reserve judgment on this one. I've actually been watching Branch this year for fantasy purposes (since TJ left the Hawks) and he just doesn't seem to have it. He's not getting open and he's not a big target so that's a problem. This could be similar to their Galloway signing that didn't really amount to much. It's a low risk bc of all the picks they have but I think it's a bit of a stretch that this does amount to anything. I'd love to see it work (again, for fantasy purposes since Branch has got to be available in just about every league right now).

I say that not just because of this move. Because of what they have BEEN doing and how they've been successful at doing it for an extended period of time, along with the Steelers.
