Re: Seattle trading Deion Branch to Patriots

Maybe the Pats felt bad about fleecing them the first time around?

That's the only explanation I can come up with.

edit:

Forgot... NE has a ton of picks this year, they probably figured it might be worth a shot.

I think he made Randy Moss, Wes Welker, David Givens, David Patten, Deion Branch, Troy Brown and even Reche Caldwell look good as they saw a significant increase in production while on the patriot's roster and significant fall in production once they left (if left, moss pending). You can say its based on the system but the stats are there. I guess i'm sorry for saying "anybody".

I never said anything about why they won their 3 super bowls.

He's just saying, during the Pats most successful peak, they were great because they played great defense and had a QB that wouldn't make dumb throws, and would win the game in the final moments if he had to. Most people thought if you gave Brady an elite WR, he would give you elite stats, and he did. But what didn't happen was, the Pats didn't win the SB. Because offense doesn't win championships.

It was interesting listening to Mike and Mike this morning, they were listing the top QB's stats-wise and the top RB's stats-wise. I believe the top RB's had a record of 7-6 or something like that. The QB's had a losing record. You win championships with offensive balance and defense.

Put me in the category of people who think that this move will have no impact on the Pats offense. 31yr old WR who has been injury prone ever since he went to Seattle. A speed guy at that too. 2005 Deion Branch is long gone.

Not sure what production you're looking at or what stats are there. Not even Branch has great stats on the Pats. He had a good SB and won the MVP of that game. I haven't gone to look at the specific numbers but the guys you mentioned... you only know their names bc the Pats are always on tv, always in the playoffs, etc. None of them put up any kind of consistent stats besides Welker and Moss who were both putting up numbers before they went to NE. Welker's numbers jumped but we'll see how much that was related to Moss.

It's not about an offensive system. The gameplan of the team (the winning formula) has been strong defense, balance offense, Brady playing smart, mistake free and only being special when necessary late in games.

That 1st round pick turned into Brandon Merriweather (Pro Bowl Saftey)

The second 1st round pick was traded to the 49ers for a 1st and 4th round picks the next year.
That first rounder became Jerod Mayo (Defensive rookie of the year)
The other first rounder that year was forfeited.

That 4th round pick then turned into Randy Moss when they traded with the Raiders.
Randy got them to a superbowl and helped break huge records including going 16 - 0.

They trade Moss for a 3rd round pick getting back more value. (received for 4th traded for 3rd)

They trade Maroney for a 4th round pick which they then used to pick up Deion Branch.
Which is basically like trading Maroney (a bust) for Deion Branch.

So basically..
They turned Deion Branch into Moss, Merriweather and Mayo.
And now they have Branch back PLUS a new 3rd round pick.
THAT^ is beautiful. What a tightly run ship.

Re: Seattle trading Deion Branch to Patriots

Yesterday was the first time in years I got to wear my silver Deion Branch jersey and it paid off. Glad to have him back.
