Game of the Week: Ravens @ Patriots

The only matchup of the week featuring two teams with only one loss. The Ravens only loss was a to a team the Patriots beat (Bengals) and the only Patriots loss was to a team the Ravens beat (Jets).

This game should be an excellent game. I'm certainly glad we're playing this game before Ed Reed returns, that's for sure.

Very interested to see exactly how this new look Patriots offense runs. I expect much of what we saw in the early part of the decade with short passes with tons of yards after the catch. Also wondering how the run game looks with Taylor, Green-Ellis and Woodhead.

No prediction for this game but certainly can't be any worse than the playoff game from last year.

Wifey is going to be rockin' her Pats shirt and I will be cheering on Ray Ray to murder someone on the field. :P

Re: Game of the Week: Ravens @ Patriots

Everything about this game points to a Ravens victory. The Pats shouldn't be able to stop the run. The NE pass rush isn't great which means the passing game should be able to do well also. The Pats should be trying to run more with this new look but that's not going to work. The Ravens secondary is healthy quicker than anyone expected and sitting 2nd in the league and my guess is long bombs is probably the best way to beat it since everyone on the D tackles.

With ALL that said, the game is in NE and this IS the Pats... coming off a bye week. I think Hernandez may give the Ravens fits.

Here's hoping this looks similar to last year's playoff game.

Yeah. I think that on paper this one is the ravens game. But hoodie had an extra week to prepare and may have a few things up those sleeves. Should be a great game.

Should be a good game, I think the Pats win by 10. I wouldn't call it the game of the week though, I think the Cowboys @ Vikings is the game of the week. Two teams picked to possibly go all the way are desperate for a win to get out of the basement, should be a knock down drag out.

Two teams picked to go all the way that each only have one win is a bigger game than two teams picked to go all the way that each only have one loss?

Well, I thought the Ravens were going to be the best team in the league this year, and I still feel like they're up there.

Sure the Pats shouldn't have a chance on paper, but don't forget about their special teams. They'll probably need big plays in the return game, and even though I'm completely against the Moss trade, I'm not all that worried about the offense. They have enough weapons to compete.

I'm banking on the Pats feeding off their underdog role, using last year's playoff game as motivation. That combined with Bill's history of success after bye weeks, and a home game says they should have a decent chance in this one.

Flacco hasn't been great this season, I think he needs to have a good game.

I hope the Pats changed up some of their audibles because Ray Lewis was pretty much calling them back in January.
