I don't see what the big clamoring is to get an NFL franchise in La-la land... I mean, every time they've tried it, it's failed for one reason or another. L.A. just isn't that good of a sports town, and other than the Lakers, the fan support is spotty at best. They love a winner, as does every city, but they don't suffer losers - which is what really defines great sports towns. As soon as things go south or it's not "cool" to be at a game anymore, everyone's out.

The NFL's fine as it is; they don't need L.A., and L.A. doesn't need the NFL. Besides, where the hell would they put a stadium? Irwindale?

I completely disagree for two reasons:

1- He is a peasant compared to everyone else who is a majority owner of an NFL team. Sure, he's got a lot of money, but nowhere near enough to sustain an NFL franchise barring outside help.

2- He could get sick and die at any given time due to his health issues.

I agree about your first point so I didn't quote it but you make Magic out to be a guy who's been in and out of hospitals and could die at any moment which is the furthest thing from the truth. He's been remarkably healthy so healthy in fact that there was a rumor a couple years ago that he was back to his philandering ways with women. I doubt he's going to die anytime soon.

That's a tricky disease though, man. I admit that I don't know nearly everything there is to know about it but I do know two people that I grew up with that had it and died. They were pretty healthy for a long time (not nearly as long as Johnson has though) and suddenly just got sick and succumbed to it. It looked like an absolutely terrible way to go too.

Wait....people are actually banging with Magic knowing full-well what he has?

....wow, people are ****ing stupid.

As for the team, no I don't want a team in LA. Los Angeles has done enough to ruin basketball for me. No need for the people here to help ruin football too.

whoever said the fans in L.A. wouldn't want to suffer with a new franchise is probably right. Most of the folk in L.A. like the Chargers already who are a winning team. L.A. has already had two teams once before so you've divied up some of the fanbase in that way and now you're thinking to bring in a fourth team to once again get the city to buy into them?

Expansion in Houston was crazy, you basically had to retrain all the old oiler fans, many of whom still like the Texans/Jeff Fischer to this day, to like a brand new team in Houston especially with an established team in Dallas to steal casual fans. It wasn't easy in Texas, I can't imagine how easy it will be in a place that has twisted, and mixed and matched the city identity of football numerous times before.
