Carolina Sideline Incident

So remember that big deal about the sideline last week? You know that whole thing with the Jets and the world caving in on the Jets and demanding Alosi be fired and suspended and how terrible the Jets are as a result of what happened? I looked around here and I didn't see anything on this that also happened last week and I'm not seeing too much outrage for this which makes me wonder what the deal is?

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP)

For the second time in a week, a fine has
been levied for sideline contact during a punt
return.

Carolina defensive end Tyler Brayton was
fined $15,000 by the NFL for hitting Atlanta's
Chris Owens out of bounds in last week's
game. The fine was levied Friday, but not
made public.

Also last Sunday, New York Jets strength
and conditioning coach Sal Alosi stuck out
his knee and tripped Miami's Nolan Carroll.
Alosi was suspended indefinitely by the team
and fined $25,000.
So when it's a certain team that does something it's bad? Dude stuck out a knee and tripped somebody, is suspended indefinitely and fined $25,000 meanwhile this guy for a crappy team whacks a guy in the head (which of course the NFL is so concerned about head blows these days) and is quietly fined $15,000 and nothing else...awesome.

Couple of things. The J-E-T-S fined and suspended Alosi not the shield. Second, trying to understand how and what is finable in the NFL is an excercise in futility IMO.

Re: Carolina Sideline Incident

Pretty obvious why it didn't get much attention.

1. Nobody watches the Carolina Panthers
2. There were no big time HD cameras to record it like the Jets game, all they have is that super grainy footage from far away, that's something they would only check after the game

Yeah, one year of futility compared to every year since Barry Sanders left.

It's not like they were setting the world on fire when Sanders was there
