Mike Singletary has been fired.

According to the Twitter account of San Francisco Chroncial writer David Wright. A team source has said Singletary has been fired.

Well that didnt take long, he should have been fired weeks ago though and doing it with one game left in the season makes zero sense. He needs to go and be a LB coach somewhere and give up on this HC dream because I doubt he sees anymore chances anytime in the near or distant future.

NBC mentioned that it was due to them officially being out of playoff contention after todays game but it still makes no sense. Youve now got an interim HC who basically will have one game to try and sell himself, which will be next to impossible to do, and a team that has nothing left to play for. Its too little too late imo.

I wonder if him and Troy Smith getting into it had any part of the firing?

I don't get the idea of firing a guy with one week left but honestly, it should've happened 2 months ago. I like the guy but his decision making has been porous in his time as HC.

49ers need to do what the Browns did with Anderson/Quinn and just scrap all their QBs and just start over. I think they're close with Gore, Crabtree and Davis as well as a couple of younger guys on the OL who have a good future so it's not like they have to blow the whole team up.

Seriously doubt that had anything to do with it as hes gotten into it with players in the past and nothing happened, hell he got into it with Alex Smith as recently as the Saints game this season. I think the front office held out until we were guaranteed to be out of the playoff picture, today we lost and ended that so they followed through on it now.
