Coaches Staying in 2011:
Gary Kubiak, Houston - http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/stor...return-in-2011
Leslie Frazier, Minnesota - http://views.washingtonpost.com/thel...-as-coach.html
Jason Garrett, Dallas - http://content.usatoday.com/communit...head-coaches/1
Tom Coughlin, NY Giants - http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-will-be-back/

Coaches still on the Hot Seat:
Tom Cable, Oakland - likely out, according to reports- http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5981629
Eric Mangini, Cleveland
Marvin Lewis, Cincinnati - possibly going to Pitt? - http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...on-short-list/
Tony Sparano, Miami
Jack Del Rio, Jacksonville
Jeff Fisher, Tennessee

Opening in San Fran as well w/ Singeltary out.

All coaching change discussion should go here.
My thoughts on most of the above:

Kubiak staying with Houston is a mistake IMO, but props to them for having patience in a league where coaches barely last 2 years.

Garrett as a full time HC should be interesting. Curious to see if they'll continue playing as tough as they did at the end of this season.

Cable possibly being out in Oakland is hilarious. Typical Raiders....

Mangini I'm surprised even lasted the season. I figured he was going to be out as soon as Holmgren was hired, so no surprise if he's out tomorrow.

Lewis leaving Cincinnati is best for both sides IMO.

Sparano is 50/50 to me. I could see him getting fired, but I could see him getting 1 more year as well.

Del Rio I think deserves at least another year. For a rebuilding team, Jacksonville has been pretty damn competitive these last 2 years.

As for Fisher, I think he stays. The Dallas job isn't open, the Houston job isn't open and I think he'll go after a QB in FA or the draft so he doesn't have to start Vince, even though I think one of the two should leave.

Re: 2011 NFL Coaching Carousel

Sounding more and more like Lewis will be out in Cincy
Quote:
People who have spoken to Marvin Lewis say that, as much as he'd like to stay in Cincinnati as the Bengals' coach, he believes it's time to move on from his current job -- unless the team makes changes it has been unwilling to make for years. Lewis, whose contract expires after this season, will meet with Bengals president Mike Brown on Monday.

"All I know is, officially today I'm no longer employed," Lewis said. "Where I am right now in my coaching career is a different point from where I was eight years ago, and I think this football team is a lot different than it was eight years ago, and that's good. ... We're in a good spot."

Lewis would like the Bengals to upgrade their training facilities and their player personnel department, and he is so adamant on these issues that it is the reason he declined to sign the contract extension offered him before this season. If Cincinnati is unwilling to budge on these issues -- and there is no indication they Bengals are -- then Lewis will not return to Cincinnati next season and he will become the latest desirable coach on the open market.

Al Davis must want Tom Cable out because of his questionable character.

Hopefully the dude will land a head coaching gig somewhere else.

Edit: Yes, I'm joking about the reason Davis wants Cable out in case anyone thinks I'm being serious.

Just saw on NFLN that Jason Garrett has been announced as the permanent HC for Dallas next year...not a surprise I guess.

Re: 2011 NFL Coaching Carousel

why eric mangini got ousted is beyond belief. The cleveland browns were a better team this year than they had been since the season they went 10-6. the team for 1 is young, they have all the peices they need on offense except wideout..and a stud corner in haden a beast in the backfield with hillis, the team was just young and didn't know how to win they knew how to be competitive this team is ferecious. i don't understand this move

This is true. It's all over Twitter.

Interesting to see what Mike does now.

Back to back 5-11 seasons is the reason. Just look at Tampa and Kansas. Bad teams in 2009. Much better in 2010.
