Why are teams so quick to franchise players? Why not continue negotiations and try to reach and agreement before the deadline? Then you can use the tag on another player.

Well in the chargers case Jackson can negotiate with other teams and the chargers are probably going to wait and see what other teams will offer him before they decide to match it or not. That is probably the best thing for the chargers to do with VJ.

I hope he stays a charger long term.

You have to give it the guy who is most likely to create a bidding war, and garner the most interest. If Peyton Manning was to hit the market, everyone w/ $25Mil available to throw at him would probably seek out his abilities.

When was the deadline to have franchised a player before they become an Unrestricted Free Agent?

That's probably why Vick, Manning, and the others have been franchised w/ the "exclusive" tag. This tag prevents them from being able to negotiate w/ another team on a contract.

Richard Seymour to be made the highest paid defensive player in football.

Yeah, if that's what it would've taken to make him happy, I'm glad the Pats got a 1st round pick for him while they could.

Quote:
SI.com first reported Seymour's [two-year] extension. The website said that Seymour'd deal is potentially worth $30 million and contains $22.5 million guaranteed.

Lol wow him the highest paid defensive player in the NFL? Wow

Shaun Rogers visiting the Saints today or tomm, I'd love him in NO if the price was right since we could use another run stuffer and if i'm not mistaken he's been the most successful in a 4-3 in his career.

I think thats what it took to keep him happy as a Raider, not necessarily happy in general.

Dam it.. Second best again. Got to be quicker.

This news comes just in time as I have just reached the off-season in my franchise.. Oh, and come to Detroit Mr. Sanders?
