That's still one of the biggest robberies of all time.
People always bring this up but look at the stats for the RB's that year.
Priest Holmes - 1400+ rushing yards, 27 TD's, 74 receptions, 600+ receiving yards
Jamal Lewis - 2000+ rushing yards, 14 TD's, 26 receptions, 205 receiving yards
Clinton Portis - 1500+ rushing yards, 14 TD's, 38 receptions, 300+ receiving yards

Probably deserved to go in the Pro Bowl over Portis, but not over Holmes or Lewis for All Pro. Heck, Ahman Green you could say would be over Tomlinson that year. That was a beast year for RB's.

Re: Tomlinson's Legacy

In Tomlinson's most prolific reg season as a rusher he carried that production into the postseason as well. Albeit the Chargers lost to the Patriots 24-21 after a 14-2 season and the best record in the AFC, but LT was not the reason for the loss.

I think his legacy is that of one of the greatest of all-time, rings or no rings. To think anything less than that is ludicrous.

Yes, I remember all of those performances. It was a big year for backs, but that never changed my opinion on LT's performance. There has to be room for a guy who ran for 1,645 at 5.3 per carry and caught 100 balls. Surely, he deserved something instead of the absolute nothing he got for it.

I might have worded that wrong, I didn't mean that each individual season he was the best running back. But if I had to pick a running back to have from 2001-2007 it would be him.

Let's not forget LT was snubbed from Offensive Rookie of the Year. Anthony Thomas won it because the Bears made the playoffs.

Even as a Charger fan, I was still pulling for him to get his ring this year (despite my hatred for the Jets).

Barring an amazing postseason from him next year with a ring to cap it all off, will LT always be remembered as a top tier RB during the regular season who just can't get it done in January?
Part of the issue was he took such a beating in the regular season he was rarely healthy when it came to the postseason. When he was (see Pats game in '06) he had a monster game, but the team around him melted down.

The only game where he was healthy in the post season and he didn't really play well was the Jets game in the '04 season. And to be honest the Jets dominated the LOS in that game..

To me his legacy is, he's the best player the Chargers have ever had.
