I just got a text message from ESPN saying this and just thought it was kind of interesting to see that he would be willing to do that when he really doesn't have to.

Chief negotiator Jeff Pash (who makes 5 million a year) is also willing to do this.

For those that don't know and are too lazy to click on the link, Goodell makes about 10 million including bonuses.

Let's see if

A) there's actually a work stoppage, which admittedly looks likely, and
B) he actually does this.

A lot of rhetoric out there right now, not really much action. That said, for the moment this is probably a good thing for the owners / Goodell, PR-wise.

I could be way off base on this -- and I don't have anything against Goddell -- but this just rings as a hollow, somewhat pretentious gesture to me. Whatever time is lost, I bet his yearly salary will be paid in full whenever they do come back.

Yea, I hate to be negative, but it seems like this may be a PR move so he can say "look, I tried everything!"

Not like it'll hurt him in any way. He's paid 10 million a year and I'm sure he'll be reimbursed. I agree with Palmer and Shiz with the PR move comments.

At least Goodell is trying to make himself look good if there's a work stoppage however I think a lot of us see right through this.
