Sabres' Former Owner Talks About Possibly Owning Bills

http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2011...ills-ownership

Golisano sold the Sabres for $70 million less than he could have to keep them in Buffalo.

He's always been a lead candidate to keep the Bills in Buffalo. The evidence is strong that people want them to stay, and the franchise would be much more successful if it stays in Buffalo.

Just wanted to get this article out to all the NFL fans who don't really hear stuff like this and just follow the doom and gloom from know-nothing media.

He's got a pretty good rep in the area, and the fact that he's open to a lot of different possibilities is a best case scenario...

Any combo of the proposed "Jim Kelly Gang", Golisano and / or some of that Packers / Fan Base as shareholders works for me!

Fingers crossed...

The way Golisano talked about it it doesn't seem his heart is totally into buying the Bills but rather he'll buy the team to keep them in town. It's kinda like what happened with the Blue Jays when Ted Rogers bought the club. I do think a combination of Jim Kelly and other former Bills and a public/shareholder option is the best way to go.

I thought a public team was against league bylaws (GB of course is grandfathered in.) Wish more teams were run that way, but I was always told they can't?

Yeah, this is the other side of it...

When I said he was well regarded, I meant that as a businessman, member of the community, etc...

Sabres fans have been upset for years that the team has (correct me if I'm wrong - not much of a hockey fan) cheaped out on the product on the ice to maximize profit...

It's become too common a strategy in sports ownership, but hey...

If the guy can help keep the team(s) in the area, I'm all for him...
