Who has more influence on draft choices?

I know that in most setups, the owner would have the final say in their draft choices. BUT I want to get a gauge on where you think on who has the most influence on a draft choice:
- Head Coach
- General Manager
- Owner
- Other
It’s a much opened ended question but let me know what you think.

Re: Who has more influence on draft choices?

it depends on the team, and for my favorite team the cowboys id say the owner has the most influence

Jones has the final say in everything, although he shouldn't.

Re: Who has more influence on draft choices?

The Packers is GM Ted Thompson, and he repeatedly gets credit in conferences and interviews for the building of the team and his vision.

He may not make popular decisions, but they seem to work. I'll take it.

Yeah it's mainly a team by team basis. I'd say for the Saints it's mainly GM Mickey Loomis but with a lot of input from Sean Payton, although Gregg Williams may have some say now if they are looking at defensive players.

I never doubt whatever the Saints do now so whoever has the most influence is doing a good job lol

It's his team.. He'll do whatever the hell he wants with it..

As for the original question.. It definitely varies between teams..

Re: Who has more influence on draft choices?

Yes, that's the whole point of this discussion. I mentioned that it's an opened ended question. So I like to hear from individuals who follow these different teams on who has the most influence on a draft. In a technical sense, the owners have the final say in a draft. BUT in most cases, the owners defer to the coaching staff and management. Unless your a team like the Cowboys where the owner is heavily involved in the day-to-day operations. BUT even in that instances, Jerry Jones has to get his input from somewhere. So I'd like to know. Does he listen to the GM more? Or the head coach? If the GM wants one player and the coach wants another who's Jerry Jones going to listen to?
