And they say that as of right now, Tebow is fighting for the backup position. That doesn't mean that can't change. But there's a reason Orton is getting all of the first team snaps.
Speaking of garbage time, as someone who had Orton on his fantasy team last year, let me tell you: no one in the league last year was more propped up by garbage time than Orton. Orton is a paper tiger like no one else.

Also, you're wrong about the last three games. It's hardly garbage time. These games become extremely competitive when you have coaches coaching for their jobs and players auditioning for jobs. Garbage time is 59-14 in the 4th qtr at home against the Raiders (ask Orton about this). Meanwhile, ask Norv Turner, Gary Kubiak, or Tom Cable whether those last 3 games were important. All of those guys were on the hotseat when they played Denver (or would have been had they lost to Denver).

But truth be told, Tebow had a comparable QB rating to Orton and also brought a lot of rushing yards in addition to being a comparable passer. The net result being that the offense functioned better under Tebow.
You missed the point. Point being that even if the offense did score 21 points for those 3 games, it's still only 3 games! Three games does not equal consistency. It's only part of the body of work on which the coaches evaluate the players on.

I couldn't care less about those three games you keep mentioning. Overall body of work considered, Orton is proven, Orton is better.

You're right, I shouldn't have said garbage time. What I meant by that is that the Broncos had no pressure whatsoever in those games. They went out with the "**** it, we have nothing to lose" mentality. I watched the games because I really am interested to see if this guy can put it all together.

Now a new season is here, and you don't go out playing that kind of hero ball. Not when, with the exception of a very few teams, every team in the NFL has a shot at making the playoffs. 0-0, you put in the guy in who has the best chance of your team going 1-0. That's Orton, and I don't think there's any disputing that given what we've seen so far.

Tebow can change that. He'll get a ton of looks in the preseason, and there's still time to improve in practice. But from all indications, he's not even close.

Using a small sample size is not good practice when analyzing statistics. This is 101 of statistical analysis.
