have you ever seen a boxer in his 40s or 50s? there are inherent risks to playing football you know this when you suit up.

Re: this kicking off from 35 yard line

I did like what Josh Cribbs had to say about it (And not just because he plays on my fave team):

"If it's 5 yds deep in the endzone, I'm running it out. If it's ten yds deep, I'm still gonna run it out". Not word for word, but you get the point.

That sarcasm's pretttttttttay annoying.

It's not about the kicks being returned for excitement purposes, at least not for me.

It's about field position. My team was dead last in field position last year, and it killed our offense. Yeah, I know, the numbers show we were still a crazy offense, but those slow starts in the first half and the deep holes we had to dig out of were mostly because of field position offensively.

If every drive is starting from the 20 because of touchbacks with no chance to maybe start at the 35, or 40 every so often, it's detrimental to my team and their success.

Of course, it's the Texans, so more touchbacks probably mean less of a chance that there could be some ridiculous fumble to be the next culprit for an absurd loss. Who said I'm not an optimist?

Yeah...I forgot we're talking about flag football, right?

Any player can get injured on any snap. Breaking up a wedge happens with less frequency than WRs running crossing routes where they're wide open to get pummeled.

But players are being injured worse, and more frequently on kickoffs, that's why it was changed.

Same with trying to outright kill players in defenseless positions.

Whenever safety is involved it's a slippery slope. On one hand the numbers say this will help reduce injuries on the other this is a huge part of the game. Not that humans are expandable, but these guys know what there signing up for. Not to mention this makes a lot of players who specialize in ST less valuable.

You can't fix everything.

Less kicks will be returned, but it isn't totally eliminating kick returns. I think you're exaggerating a bit

Re: this kicking off from 35 yard line

I'm looking forward to the 15 minutes of commercials behind the extra point, kickoff, touchback, and start of the next drive.
