Like I said, I thought I did pretty good until I started this thread!

I just may call them back and tell them I'm going to cancel because I found out other subscribers I know of got it for free...

Should / could work..right?

Lesson learned...

Thanks for the tips!

Then you can say whatever you want about Sunday Ticket, how it brought you to DTV, how it's too expensive this year, how its ridiculous people are gettingi t for free, thinking about cancelling, etc. They'll go and check what they can do for you. They'll usually come back with a discount on the monthly ST price. You can persist and say that's not good enough, etc.

If you pick up on the fact that that's as low as they can go (if they didnt go down to zero on it), say something like "I understand, but its still pretty expensive. Do you have anything else to offer me to offset the cost of the Ticket? Like bill credits. I've been worried about the monthly bill getting too high lately." They could come back with things like free HD-DVR service for 6 months, $5 credit on the bill for 24 months, $20 off your bill for 6 months, etc.

I called and got (what I think is, compared to what others got) a ****ty deal.

Got ST knocked down to 6 payments of 33.99, free HD service for 6 months (so 60 dollar value), a new HD-DVR for one of the rooms, and free Showtime for 3 months.

Some people get some INSANE stuff. Guess it all depends on your standing with them, your monthly bill, how long you've been with them, etc.

I do get Showtime or Cinemax for free (for three month intervals) on a yearly basis, so I DO have that going for me!

It wouldn't hurt. When you call day 'cancel', then 'cancel' again. Won't hurt. If anything they will knock $10 off a month or something.

Your deal's good. Don't get greedy... it'll ruin it for everyone else trying to get a deal.

Yeah, I came to the same conclusion...

I'm all good for this year...next year I might push a bit harder...

I did tell a buddy of mine to call today with the "cancel" strategy and we'll see if he does better...

Anybody else having luck w / this?

Got ST-to-Go free, and a $20/mo credit off my ST sub a couple weeks ago.

Re: DTV / NFL Sunday Ticket / Discount?

The first time I called, they offered me the Sunday Ticket for 44.15 amonth on top of my monthly bill that is 32.00. Roughly 80 dollars that i wasn't willing to pay.

So I call 4 days later, and I talk to this lady that offers me the same deal. I tell her thats the same deal I got 4 days ago. So I say listen, I need my bill to be under 50 dollars a month for the 6 months.

She puts me on hold, comes back and says, OK we can make your bill be under 50 a month. So for 6 months months my bill will 48.98.

If you do the math, I got the Sunday Ticket for about 16 dollars.

*****DirecTV has deals and promotions that change everyday*****

Same thing goes for SiriusXM subscribers, you just have to keep calling. Just swallow your pride and be nice and polite. Thats what i had to do.

Re: DTV / NFL Sunday Ticket / Discount?

FYI:

My DTV "TV Mail" said last night that the first week of the season will be a free Sunday Ticket preview for all subscribers...
