I can actually see it in college, because I am a LSU, Georgia Tech, and Oregon fan. Granted, there is a country mile between LSU and GT and another mile between GT and UO, but it works because there is 120+ teams.

However, there are only 32 teams in the NFL. it just does not feel right.

WIN.

Anyway, there was one night a few years agoo when I was thinking about adopting the Ravens as my 2nd team. Never happened

That said, I don't "hate" any teams at all really, so I guess I'm a fan of every team to an extent

Nothing wrong with having a second team. I actually have 3 other NFL teams that I'll root for so long as they're not playing the Steelers. Those would be the Eagles (relatives in Philly), Packers (always liked them/Favre), and Panthers (liked their uniforms + relatives in NC).

Of course I did go through a phase where I liked a whole bunch of different teams (though never more than a Pittsburgh team) and would buy hats/shirts/jackets. This was when I was about the same age or slightly younger than a certain OSer hailing from the Hoosier state.

I wouldn't call that an exception.

There's a dozen or more ways to follow your main team nowadays.

Internet sports news websites
NFL Gamepass
Streaming websites
Twitter

You could be a Bills fan living in LA but not need to worry about missing games or major news stories regarding your team.

This is the 21st century man, not 1980.

I live in England and I'm about 10,000 miles away from Glendale. But because of these media outlets I can stay connected to the Cardinals pretty much 24/7.

I think it's fine. I've always been and always will be a Bengals fan but at the same time I like minnesota and have always liked the Vikings so they've been my 2nd team for quite a while.
