Surely you're kidding... so if you were the head coach, you'd sit Cassel — who went to the Pro Bowl last year — over Stanzi, a fifth round pick who couldn't even beat out Tyler freaking Palko for the #2 spot in camp this year?

Even if Cassel turned in a stellar day yesterday, Chiefs still would have had their butts kicked. Defense was awful, we couldn't hold onto the ball, receivers weren't getting open, and Fitzpatrick was on fire.

It may be true that the Chiefs are heading for a disappointing year this year, but these overreactions are comically exaggerated.

Eric Berry is out for the year according to two sources. Torn ACL. Sorry Chiefs fans.

Probably looking at a 4 win season at this point with Moeaki and Berry gone for the season.

Hope Cowher or Gruden are looking to come back to coaching in the offseason.

Wow, that is awful about Berry. Looks like our good luck with the lack of injuries last year is coming back around to balance out with a lot of injuries this season.

Sigh.

Losing a guy who played every snap on defense last year and ended up in the Pro Bowl is going to hurt a little bit.

Damn...hate to see a great Tennessee player like that go down. Hopefully has a good recovery.

Some controversy brewing over the play that took out Berry.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-a-cheap-shot/

Quote:
With the Chiefs losing safety Eric Berry for the full season after tearing an ACL during a Week One blowout loss to the Bills, the debate has now turned to the question of whether the hit that tore the ligament should result in a fine for Bills receiver Stevie Johnson.

Berry’s camp, we’re told, definitely believes that Johnson should be fined for diving helmet first at Berry’s lower legs while trying to throw a block ahead of the ball carrier. The video clearly shows that Johnson hit Berry low.

Johnson disagrees. Strongly.

Asked via Twitter by “@Mr_Hoosier” whether “God [made] you take a cheap shot on our best player,” Johnson said this: “man shutup U clown ILL NEVER CHEAPSHOT A PLAYER ON THE FIELD! IDC if he my Enemy U Square! Last I checked a cut block was legal!”

Actually, Johnson is right. There’s nothing illegal about diving at a guy’s knees in the open field.

That said, most players wish it were illegal. Last year, after a rash of helmet-to-helmet hits heightened everyone’s sensitivity to defenseless players, several players made it clear that they’d rather be hit high than low, since taking a low hit can tear up a knee — and limit or end a career.

Thus, even though Johnson is unlikely to be fined, Johnson could be subject to scorn from his peers.

I'm going to have to watch that play again. I remember it being a clean block but kind of an unnecessary one... it was way out in front of the play and I think the ballcarrier was already being brought down.
