Thats just what the Jets needed. Big Kickoff and short drive to cut the score to 17-14

Pats ran the ball and stopped the run when it mattered.

Hernandez drop makes it closer than it should have been.

your right Palo. For the Jets to win, they really need to outrush the Patriots. Their Run defense is not as good as it has been. The Pats have adjusted from last years playoff game and ran the ball more. I think the pass run ratio was about even. Combine that with Brady having another great game and the Pats score 30 again.

I think stopping the run from their base defense is the Pats strength. The Raiders and Jets were similar in that they don't go 3 WR too much and they run the ball. The Pats can stop that.

Teams that spread to run or simply pass the ball give the Pats trouble. I know Rex wanted to get back to his roots, but if he stuck with the passing game today, they may have had a better shot.

Hernandez was huge again for the Pats, mostly because of how he dictates matchups. The Jets matched up CB Strickland with him and they put their Nickel D out there. That took their best two run defenders, Pouha and Devito, off the field. Then the Pats could run 2 TE, 3 WR, or any formation they wanted and they could run the ball on the Nickel package. All starts with Hernandez.
