James Harrison Suspended 1 Game for Hit On McCoy

I think even suspensions is taking the situation too lightly. If someone like Harrison who is not only a repeat offender but openly admits that he will keep doing this regardless, a few things should happen.

If the hit is as blatantly obvious as this one was then Harrison should be immediately ejected, his game check should be forefited and then he should be suspended.

If he won't learn from each individual thing happening, give him the triple whammy all at once. Eventually his pockets will start taking a hit and maybe he'll stop acting like such a douche.

Harrison has filed an appeal, he'll get his fate this week from Ted Cotrell or Art Shell later this week.

One way to stop hits like this might be to make players practice without helmets. Eventually it would become automatic to avoid leading with your head. Only so many guys will want to f- their face up every week in practice.

Under the new CBA there are already only 14 practices all year in pads. This is a player safety/longevity move negotiated by the league and NFLPA.

In that case they should play without helmets then lol.

I'm not 100% serious, obviously, but it might (in violation of common sense) actually reduce head injuries.

It's only a matter of time before Harrison severly injures someone, or better yet himself. I don't want to see anyone get hurt but if nothing else will teach the guy not to lead with his head a spinal injury should just about do it.

I said it in the game thread, but if he keeps his head up, he probably still knocks McCoy out because of the way McCoy opened himself up to be leveled. It would have probably been legal then (knowing the NFL, they'd still have flagged him) and he would have avoided suspension. But, he continues to lower his head, and until he can stop doing that, I agree with the league.
